This Torrez market review will discuss Torrez market (obviously) in detail. For some reason, the market hasn’t hit the popularity levels of some other darknet markets in the industry.

However, that’s clearly not for the lack of features. In fact, it’s one of the most feature-rich darknet markets in existence (and, that’s a big claim!)

For starters, the financial-angles (accepted Cryptocurrencies, payment modes etc.) are nothing short of impressive. The same goes for security.

Nearly every other feature that you expect from a Darknet Market is available (and then some.) Obviously, there’s room for improvement which we will also discuss throughout this Torrez market review.

Well, let’s get straight to it then?

User-Interface

There’s not much to discuss here (if you’ve got any darkweb market experience.) The UI is pretty standard with the top-bar, left-sidebar and the centre-screen.

I mean, this literally is how most other darknet markets are. This probably is the only “common” aspect about Torrez. Else, it truly has brought about a number of unique and new features.

Let’s not spend much time on this section, eh?  You can visit the different sections of your profile from the top-bar. The left-sidebar is for the product-categories. And, the centre-screen is for products. Simple.

I love the fact that it has detailed “how to” guides, as well as a FAQ section which helps you sort doubts (if any).

In a shorter sentence, extremely easy to use and understand. Period.

Available Products

It’s probably the only “not so impressive” features on this Torrez market review. The market despite being 9 months old just has around 4600 products enlisted.

The products are enlisted in categories such as drugscounterfeit, carded items, tutorials and e-books, fraud-related items etc.

I’ve designed a custom chart to get you a better idea of its product-stock:

Obviously, each of these categories can be expanded. Drugs offers products such as stimulants, Opiates, Dissociative, Ecstasy, Cannabis and Hash etc.

Similarly, the “fraud” category offers products such as cards, CVVs, personal information etc.  It’s pretty intriguing considering how most darknet markets do not actually allow the trade of personal info.

Tutorials on hacking, money making, social engineering etc. are available.  The “services” section is a more hands-on category where experts can be hired for hacking, carding, cracking, hosting and VPS and other services.

One of the reasons why the product-stock isn’t higher is its restriction-list. Torrez is a bit limiting when it comes to what products it doesn’t allow on the marketplace.

Vendors aren’t allowed to sell:

  • Illegal porn
  • Organs
  • Fentanyl
  • Weapons
  • Topuppable cards/ prepaid cards*
  • And Fund Transfers*.

*These items are allowed on almost all other Darknet markets. However, these are the most scammer-rich categories. Hence, disabling them actually works in the favour of the buyers and keeps the market clean

Payment Cryptocurrencies

Most darknet markets accept Bitcoin. Some also accept a second or third Cryptocurrency.

But, how many darknet markets have you seen accept 4 Cryptocurrencies?  Well yes, Torrez accepts payments in Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero and also ZCash.

However, it has shown a clear preference for Monero. You can use all the cryptocurrencies equally, however, the market advocates Monero is better and more anonymous than Bitcoin.

Wallet-less & centralized Wallet modes

This is one of the most unique aspects on this Torrez review. It’s the only marketplace we’ve seen so far which supports both the wallet modes, i.e. a wallet-less mode as well as a centralized-wallet mode.

The wallet-less mode means you do not need to deposit funds in advance to any wallet. You keep your funds off-market, on your wallet. Only at the checkout page of each individual order you send in the funds.

This ensures you can send exactly the required amount for each order, without any leftovers or residual funds.

This mode minimizes the risks of an exit-scam. Without extra funds on the market wallet, the market is less likely to run away.

However, frequent customers may still prefer centralized wallets. This is the traditional darknet payment mode. There’s a wallet in each user profile, for each Cryptocurrency.

Users can deposit funds and keep them on the marketplace. Whenever a purchase is made, the funds are deducted from this marketplace wallet.

Now, this means a lot of money will be sitting in user profiles. Hence, marketplaces with this mode are more likely to exit-scam.

However, by offering both the modes, Torrez has made sure it doesn’t force its opinion/preference on users. If you trust it, you can deposit funds to the wallets. If you don’t, you can just use the wallet-less payments.

Multisig Transactions

Another rare, if not unique feature that Torrez offers is Multisig transactions.

So, Torrez uses 2 of 3 multisig. Meaning, a transaction involves 3 parties. The market, the vendor and the buyer. Funds can only be transferred when at least 2 of the 3 parties agree to a transaction.

This makes sure that no one party solely controls the funds (as in the case of normal Escrow).

Although, note that Monero isn’t available for Multisig transactions. The other 3 Cryptocurrencies, namely, ZEC, BTC and LTC are.

Security Features

I’m still confused if I should be happy, or disappointed with its security features.

For starters, Torrez does offer the standard 2-FA via PGP. It also offers a “security PIN” which can be set during registration. This PIN protects fund-related activities.

The most impressive security feature is its “TOTP”. In laymen’s terms, you can use third-party apps to receive an OTP. It keeps rotating and is valid only for 30 seconds. The current OTP shown on the app is what needs to be entered.

Now, a number of apps such as Google Authenticator (not recommended), KeePassXC, and Gnome Authenticator let you enable the OTP.

However, it lacks a number of security features such as the login phrase.  Well, it’s not a deal-breaker, however, it sure helps prevent phishing attacks.

Another feature that offers some security is its warrant canary. A canary is published every 14 days at http://yxuy5oau7nugw4kpb4lclrqdbixp3wvc4iuiad23ebyp2q3gx7rtrgqd.onion/canary.txt

Vending requirements

Obviously, it does allow independent vendors to sell on the marketplace. The vendor-bond is one of the cheapest in the industry currently and is set at just $250.00.

If an applicant can prove that he/she is an established vendor on other darknet market(s), this bond is waived.

Finalize-Early is available for the vendors and as is expected, it’s only provided to reputed and established vendors.

However, here too Torrez brought in its own flavour. It has dual-mode F.E. The second mode allows users to choose if they wish to use or not use F.E.

Vendors can also set an “away” mode. This helps them avoid orders at a time when they can’t fulfil them.

Torrez market pros and cons

Lastly for this Torrez market review, here’s what’s best and what’s not so good with the market:

Pros:

  • Wallet-less mode available
  • Centralized-wallet mode available as well.
  • 4 Cryptocurrencies supported.
  • Multisig transactions
  • Community-driven

Cons:

  • No login phrase
  • Lesser no. of products.

Final Verdict – Torrez Market Review

Is Torrez the next Empire Market then? Going by the “features”, I’d say it totally holds the potential. In fact, many of its features were not offered even by Empire Market.

The most impressive aspects on the marketplace clearly are its dual wallet modes, support for 4 Cryptocurrencies and multisig transactions.

The UI is nothing new or unique, it’s just acceptable. However, Torrez is a “community-driven” marketplace. Meaning, most of its features are implemented based on votes from the users.

Obviously, it needs to work on its product-stock if it wants serious attraction. But, it’s still a new marketplace. Let’s wait a few more months and see?

My final verdict for this Torrez market is that it’s extremely feature rich and may be at the top soon. Do you agree, or, don’t you? Food for thought, eh?
